Prepare before the first open-roof journey
Ask how the actual roof should be closed and which operating conditions apply. Do that while stationary at handover, not for the first time when the weather changes. Keep the moving parts and required storage space unobstructed, and avoid leaving loose papers or small items where they can be displaced.
Recheck your day’s plans when conditions change. A shorter journey with the roof closed can be more practical than preserving every stop in an open-air itinerary. If the mechanism will not close as instructed, contact the provider for guidance and explain where the vehicle is parked.

A situation worth thinking through
A planned coastal outing no longer suits the conditions. The renters use the closed-roof configuration and shorten the itinerary rather than rushing to keep the original schedule.
Convertible car hire Malta: the wider picture
A convertible rental adds a roof choice to the usual questions about seats, luggage and transmission. Start with the journeys you will actually make, including arrival with all your bags. Drive Cars Malta displays a cabrio category in its fleet examples; the live search and reservation establish what is available for your dates.
Use the category description to identify what is being offered. An opening fabric panel, a folding soft top and a fully retracting roof need not offer the same experience or storage arrangement. Ask about the supplied vehicle rather than assuming that every car described as a cabrio has an identical roof. Keep the normal rental conditions, payment requirements and collection instructions alongside the roof-specific information.

Does hiring a cabrio guarantee suitable roof-down weather?
No. Build the trip around current conditions rather than a fixed expectation.
